Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of Knight Shield, including the waitlist, the parent dashboard, and the Knight Shield mobile app. By using Knight Shield, you agree to these terms.

Knight Shield is operated as a sole proprietorship trading as Knight Shield. References to "we", "us", or "our" mean Knight Shield. References to "you" mean the parent or guardian using the service.

1. Who can use Knight Shield

You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or legal guardian to create a Knight Shield account. The service is designed to be set up and managed by adults on behalf of the children in their care. Children do not create their own accounts — you create profiles for them.

By creating an account, you confirm that you have the legal authority to install monitoring software on the devices you enrol, and that you will use Knight Shield in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction.

2. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist means we'll notify you when Knight Shield becomes available to the public. It does not guarantee access, pricing, or any specific feature set. We may close or discontinue the waitlist at any time. You can ask to be removed by emailing [email protected].

3. The service

Knight Shield provides:

• A mobile app that installs content filtering on your child's iOS or Android device, protecting every app on that device.
• A parent dashboard where you can view your child's online activity, manage filter rules, and receive weekly email digests.
• An optional Watch History Analysis tool that lets you upload a YouTube or TikTok data export to receive a rule-based content safety report for a child profile.
• Silent push notifications sent to the child's device to verify that Knight Shield is still installed and active. The app will request notification permission during setup. If permission is denied or later revoked, tamper detection for that device will be limited.

Access to the service requires a paid subscription. Subscription terms, pricing, and billing are described at the time of purchase and managed through Stripe.

4. Content filtering — important limitations

Knight Shield works hard to block harmful content, but no content filter is perfect. We cannot guarantee that all inappropriate, harmful, or unwanted content will be blocked, or that all legitimate content will remain accessible. Knight Shield is a tool to assist parental supervision — it is not a substitute for it.

We are not liable for any content that reaches a child's device despite Knight Shield being active.

4a. Watch History Analysis — important notes

The Watch History Analysis tool generates a rule-based content safety report from export files you provide. By uploading an export file, you confirm that:

• You are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose history you are analysing.
• You have the legal right to analyse the data contained in the export (i.e. the export belongs to an account you manage on behalf of a child in your care).
• You understand that the scoring is automated and rule-based. Results may contain false positives or miss harmful content. The report is a tool to assist your review — it is not a comprehensive or infallible safety assessment, and is not a substitute for parental supervision.
• The export file is never stored on our servers. Only the derived report is retained, for 90 days.

We are not liable for any decisions you make based on a Watch History report, or for harmful content that the report fails to identify.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].

You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep it up to date.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Knight Shield for any unlawful purpose.
• Install Knight Shield on a device without the legal authority to do so (e.g. a device belonging to an adult who has not consented).
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with Knight Shield's software or infrastructure.
• Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the service.

7. Subscription and billing

Knight Shield is offered as a recurring subscription. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access until then.

We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law.

We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change takes effect.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.

On termination, your household data and activity logs will be deleted within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

9. Intellectual property

Knight Shield and its content, design, and software are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from any part of Knight Shield without our written permission.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

Knight Shield is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Knight Shield shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or harm arising from content a child accessed despite Knight Shield being active.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Knight Shield after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to updated terms, you may cancel your account before they take effect.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Tennessee.
